True Blue Power Step-up Converter Powers 8.33 kHz Radios, Delivers Cost-effective Solution for European Airspace Mandate

The True Blue Power TC230 converts aircraft’s 14-volt system to power 28-volt equipment, including 8.33 kHz channel spacing radios.

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany — True Blue Power will introduce its newest power converter to attendees at Aero Friedrichshafen this week. The TC230 DC-to-DC step-up converter utilizes the aircraft’s 10 – 18-volt input to power 28-volt instruments and avionics, including radios, GPS, and electronic equipment.

The introduction of the 230-watt converter to European aircraft owners and operators is timely. Effective January 1, 2018, all aircraft flying in European airspace must be equipped with 8.33 kHz channel spacing radios, which require 28-volt power.

“The TC230 is ideal for aircraft owners with 14-volt electrical systems who require the use of 28-volt power for 8.33 kHz radios and other 28-volt instruments and avionics,” said Tom Genovese, True Blue Power Account Manager. “Many of our European customers are using the TC230 to meet the fast-approaching 8.33 radio mandate.”

Weighing just .7 pounds (.32 kg), the TC230 is the smallest and lightest 230-watt step-up converter in aviation. The unit’s highly-efficient, fanless design reduces weight and offers flexible installation. Its advanced engineering delivers input transient, overload, short circuit, temperature monitoring, and reverse polarity protections.
